COMMUNITY PLANNING

McCarthy Road/Chitina Valley Roundtables

Sponsored by the Alaska Land Managers Forum through the Alaska DOT & PF, this project analyzed growth potential in the McCarthy Road Corridor, identified measures to manage and mitigate impacts, and looked at ways to help locals benefit from tourism.

Big Lake Core Area Master Plan

LDN helped residents in Big Lake plan the future use of a 44-acre Borough-owned parcel in the community's core area. Because of the site's central location and the recent development of a community library on the parcel, a range of core area improvement opportunities were discussed.

Public involvement and community input were an important component of the project. Final project deliverables included a master site plan, design standards and guidelines, use recommendations, and an implementation plan.

Palmer Urban Revitalization

The project utilizes a Federal Highway Transportation and Community and System Preservation (TCSP) grant and seeks to improve pedestrian access to all parts of the city, increase traffic safety, reduce traffic congestion, create public parkland and open space in the core of the city and implement the area-wide trail network.
